About This Event
Your visit begins with a guided introduction to our smallholding where we cultivate more than 100 varieties of cut flower, many of which are grown from seed using regenerative techniques without the use of chemicals.
As a working space, this is the first time we’ve opened up the field to give you the opportunity to see how we produce thousands of stems each week for events across Cumbria. You’ll be able to pick your own hand-tied posy to adorn your picnic table, under the guidance of the Cumberland Flower Farm team, and then relax in our meadow and enjoy our unspoilt corner of Cumbria with a freshly prepared seasonal picnic lunch.

Food & Drink:
The picnic will include savory and sweet options, Cold Drinks, Tea or Coffee.
Picnics will be prepared in a professional kitchen off site and delivered to us in hampers ready for you. You must inform us of allergies in advance.

The Picnic:
Picnics will be on our picnic table clusters in two locations with gazebo shelter from the rain. Picnics will go ahead except in windy weather or severe weather warning that makes it or travel unsafe.
We offer two picnic tables, each accommodating between two and four guests. For groups of five to eight, both tables can be combined to create a shared setting. A gazebo is provided for weather protection, and picnics will proceed in all but the windiest of conditions. While sunshine cannot be guaranteed, we can promise an authentic, wild, and natural countryside experience.
What to bring:
Outdoor clothes required: sturdy shoes or boots, coat/cover-up. Our fields can be muddy.
Field Access:
Steps, uneven surfaces and walking from car and around site required.
Our field is very much a working space and a field not a garden! It isn’t suitable for anyone unstable or inconsistent on rough terrain or hilly ground. Please wear appropriate clothing for a field - sturdy boots or shoes are essential.
Car Parking:
Information on parking will be provided nearer the time. Car parking is limited and restricted to one car per table, so please car share!
