The Flower Farm

Can I visit Cumberland Flower Farm?

Although we hold occasional ticketed open days, the flower farm is not generally open to the public. As a busy smallholding and workplace, it’s not usually set up for visitors and isn’t always as “pretty” as you might imagine!

You can sign up to our newsletter for updates on special open days, or buy tickets for active events via our online shop.

In the meantime, take a look at our flower farm blog, where we post lots of updates and you can see progress and growth since we bought the field.

Orders and Delivery

What delivery options do you offer?

  • We offer collection and local delivery around West Cumbria for gift bouquets and other items found in our online shop.

  • Collection and local delivery is also available for funerals and weddings, but we are also able to travel further afield for events.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver from Cockermouth up to Wigton and down to Egremont, including outlying villages. Occasionally we travel over to Keswick. If you’re in doubt, please get in touch. We don’t deliver every day, so please check before ordering if you need anything on by a particular date.

Can I pay cash?

We prefer online payments. The ordering system is effectively our order book and it keeps things well-organised.

How do I order?

Can I order gift bouquets in advance?

Yes, of course, advance notice is always welcome! Please order and pay via our online shop and add a note at checkout about when you would like delivery arranged for.

Weddings

Can you provide flowers for my wedding?

Yes, if you like our naturalistic style and want British flowers for your Cumbrian wedding please visit our Wedding page.

My wedding is in *select month* what flowers will I have in my bouquet?

This is where you have to trust us! We can give you an idea of what will be available, but what is in flower will be wholly dependent on the weather. We can guarantee very beautiful flowers, but not exactly what they’ll be! For this reason we don’t supply speculative design ideas or quotes.

Can we meet to discuss my wedding flowers?

We communicate by email and don’t offer any form of in-person or phone consultation. Growing the flowers is extremely time consuming so doing things this way means we can work around growing demands while also keeping track of discussions and requirements.

Funeral Flowers

Do you do funeral arrangements?

We do, yes. We provide naturalistic and really bespoke Cumbrian flowers for your loved one’s funeral. Our funeral flowers are biodegradable, made without any floral foam, and use seasonal flowers.

We welcome enquiries from retailers in Cumbria. Please get in touch for details.

I am a florist. Can I buy your flowers for my work?

We do not sell wholesale flowers at this time.

Our Flowers and Ethos

What does ‘seasonal’ mean?

Our flowers are seasonal because they are not all available year-round. Most of the flowers we use are only available when that variety naturally flowers, without heat, light or unnatural fertilisers. Daffodils in spring, sunflowers in summer – these are ‘in season’. Seasonal means that we can’t promise a specific flower variety, because we are working with nature (including the weather and pests!) but can guide you in the sorts of flowers that will be available for your event. We do use commercially greenhouse-grown flowers in our ‘off’ seasons, where heating and lighting is used to ensure winter blooms. We limit our use of these flowers, buy from growers that use bio-fuel systems, and are working on reducing their carbon footprint.

Are your flowers organic?

An organic certification is a very specific thing: it involves an annual fee, annual inspections, lots of additional admin and adherance to strict rules and requirements for all inputs. Without all this, in the UK you can’t be organic.

However, we grow our flowers using no chemicals, build healthy soil and respect the environment and wildlife.
