3 Years on the field!

This week we celebrate 3 years on the field! And what a crazy few years eh?!! Our search for a field felt long and difficult, an exercise in how many ways to hear "No" ...but in October 2019 we became the very proud owners of some fields and woodland a short walk from our home in west Cumbria.

It was actually a field that I often walked to with toddler Jacob, to see the cows, and I remember once leaning on the gate, looking down the long narrow field, mountains in the distance, and think "well that would be perfect". And it is perfect! Perfect for us anyway.

We've slowly invested in infrastructure, plants and equipment to improve the soil, growing environment and wildlife living here, and we've reduced the water run-off and the boggy areas, set up three bee hives and established an orchard. All this positive action has been financed by our business of selling flowers. I would like to stop reinvesting now (!) BUT with the support of incredible customers who totally understand the value of local, seasonal, British grown flowers we've been able to grow. It's not easy work, but it suits me and our family, and I am so proud of what we have achieved.
