A soggy start to the month

Autumn well and truely arrived in a rain cloud this week. It damaged crops that were abundant and caused a whole lot of stress, although the resulting wedding flowers were still beautiful.

Working seasonally is challenging because the dire weather affects our growing here as well as the growers who we might supplement with. Farage might tell you ‘net zero’ is a waste of money but there’s not a grower in the land that’s farmed crops in soil this year who isn’t feeling the challenges of the erratic weather as a result of the climate crisis. Not one.

Every penny we spend to champion new lighter, more efficient, sustainable systems, and mitigate the damage we do in transition is worth it. In this tiny business we’re focussing on what we can do. Doubling down. Investing. Trying harder. Together we really do have to support those actively working towards collective ‘better’ and not hellbent on personal profit regardless (Not that profit is the baddy; in sustainable business it’s vital) And we must trust those on the front line (and not those profiting from the drilling?!) who are feeling it, working in it… trust those good people around you. Together we’re stronger.
